Haven Privacy Policy

Plain Form Labs (“Plain Form Labs,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects the privacy of people who use Haven Period (“Haven,” “the app”). Haven is designed to help users track period and cycle information, understand cycle patterns, receive preparation reminders, and access supportive tools.

This Privacy Policy explains how Haven handles information. In short: Haven is designed to keep your most sensitive cycle information on your device.

1. Information Haven Handles

Depending on how you use the app, Haven may store the following information on your device:

  • Period start and end dates
  • Cycle history and cycle predictions
  • Mood entries
  • Care check-in entries
  • Reminder preferences
  • Onboarding and app preference settings
  • Premium entitlement status

This information may include sensitive health-related information because it relates to menstrual cycles, moods, and care patterns.

2. Local Storage and Encryption

Haven stores sensitive app data locally on your device. Sensitive local data is encrypted before it is written to disk. The encryption key is stored using the iOS Keychain.

Haven does not operate an app server that receives your cycle history, mood entries, care check-ins, or period prediction data.

Depending on your Apple device settings, encrypted app data may be included in device or iCloud backups managed by Apple. Those backups are controlled by your Apple and iOS settings.

3. How Haven Uses Data

Haven uses locally stored information to provide app features, including:

  • Showing your current cycle status
  • Estimating future period dates
  • Estimating preparation reminder timing
  • Displaying cycle history
  • Saving mood and care check-in entries
  • Scheduling local notifications, if you enable them
  • Unlocking premium features after purchase or restore

Cycle predictions and reminders are estimates based on available information. They are not medical advice and should not be used for diagnosis, contraception, fertility treatment, or emergency health decisions.

4. Notifications

Haven may schedule local notifications for preparation reminders and care check-ins if you enable those features and allow notifications on your device.

Notification content is scheduled locally. Depending on your iOS notification settings, notification content may appear on your lock screen or in Notification Center.

5. Exports and Sharing

Haven may allow you to export cycle history. Exports are created only when you choose to export your data. Exported files may contain sensitive cycle information.

When you share an export, the file leaves Haven through the destination you choose, such as Messages, Mail, Files, AirDrop, or another app. After that, the exported file is handled by the selected app or service, not by Haven.

6. Quick Texts and Support Tools

Haven may include tools that help you compose supportive text messages. These tools use Apple’s messaging interface or other sharing tools available on your device.

Plain Form Labs does not receive the message content, recipient, or delivery status from those messages. The message is handled by your device, Apple, your carrier, and the recipient you choose.

7. Purchases and Restore

Haven may offer premium features through Apple in-app purchases. Purchases, payment processing, refunds, family sharing behavior, and purchase restoration are handled by Apple.

Haven checks purchase entitlement status so premium features can be enabled in the app. Plain Form Labs does not receive your full payment card details.

8. Data We Do Not Sell or Use for Tracking

Plain Form Labs does not sell your cycle, mood, or care data. Haven is not designed to use your sensitive cycle data for advertising tracking.

Haven does not share your locally stored cycle history, mood entries, or care check-ins with advertisers or data brokers.

9. Website Privacy

If you visit the Plain Form Labs website, our website host or WordPress installation may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, dates and times of access, and basic security logs.

The website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for site operation, security, analytics, spam prevention, or WordPress functionality. These website practices are separate from Haven’s local in-app cycle tracking data.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Haven’s local app data stays on your device unless you export it, remove it through an available app feature, or delete the app from your device.

Deleting Haven from your device removes the app’s local data from that device. Data you previously exported, shared, saved elsewhere, or included in device backups may remain outside the app.

Apple may retain purchase records according to Apple’s own policies.

11. Security

We use privacy-conscious design choices, including local storage, local encryption for sensitive app data, iOS Keychain key storage, and iOS file protection where supported.

No method of storage or transmission is perfect. You should protect your device with a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and current iOS security updates.

12. Younger Users and Children’s Privacy

Haven may be used by people who start their menstrual cycle at a young age, including users under 13. We encourage younger users to use Haven with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or trusted caregiver.

Haven is designed so that sensitive cycle history, mood entries, and care check-ins are stored locally on the user’s device and are not sent to Plain Form Labs servers.

Plain Form Labs does not knowingly collect children’s cycle history, mood entries, care check-ins, or period prediction data through Haven.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information directly to Plain Form Labs through our website, email, support request, or another channel, please contact us at [email protected]. We will review the request and delete the information where appropriate.

Parents and guardians should review device settings, notification settings, backups, purchases, and sharing choices before allowing a younger user to use Haven.

13. Your Choices

  • You can choose what cycle information you enter into Haven.
  • You can enable or disable notifications in iOS Settings.
  • You can choose whether to export your cycle history.
  • You can delete the app to remove local app data from your device.
  • You can restore purchases through Apple’s in-app purchase system where available.
  • Parents and guardians can manage a younger user’s device settings, notifications, purchases, backups, and app deletion through iOS and Apple account settings.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Haven changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy on this page.
